12 Bushels Food Distribution launched January 28th 2016 with the single purpose of driving down hunger by loving the least of these in the greater Jackson County Area. 12 Bushels FDC is a food pantry that currently distributes to an average of 200 families every week. During 2016-2017 FY 141,000 lbs of food was sourced and distributed to an estimated 31,200 people. Though it was a great year with many ministry opportunities, the reality is that this is only a fraction of those that are in need. The goals of the FDC are to:
- provide food to those in need,
- empower people with knowledge that will help them live at a higher standard,
- raise awareness of the needs in our community,
- facilitate ministry opportunities in our community.
12 Bushels FDC would not be a possibility if it were not for the community of volunteers that serve our guest on a weekly basis. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer please contact Matt Ward for more information.
We are located in the back parking lot of The Well FWC.
In 2014, 12 Bushels Thrift Shoppe was birthed from a church yard sale that was held to raise money for a missions trip to Mexico. The name is inspired by the time when Jesus miraculously fed over 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and two fish. After everyone had eaten and was full, they took up 12 baskets, or bushels full of leftover fragments. Since the beginning, God's hand and favor has been on this ministry as people in the church and community have given of their time and donated their "leftover fragments". The shoppe has become a place where many people come to shop for bargains, volunteer their time, or be ministered to through prayer and encouragement. The vision is to use the resources God has blessed us with to refurbish our community, one family at a time. The shoppe has been able to support our local food distribution as well as the international community through overseas missions. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us for more information.
